The fitment factor is the common multiplier applied to your current basic pay to arrive at your revised basic pay under the new pay commission. For example, the 6th CPC fitment factor was 1.86, and the 7th CPC was 2.57. For the 8th CPC, demands range between 2.28 and 3.68.
Whenever a new pay commission is implemented, the accumulated DA (currently 50%+) is subsumed into the basic pay. The DA counter resets to 0% upon launch and begins growing semiannually based on AICPI-IW inflation numbers.
Pensioners receive 50% of the revised basic pay as their base pension. Dearness Relief (DR) resets to 0% and starts afresh. This results in an equivalent percentage jump in net monthly pension credits.
House Rent Allowance is revised based on city classification: X Class (30%), Y Class (20%), and Z Class (10%). Transport Allowance is indexed to the new pay level and fitment factor to offset urban commute expenses.
